Consolacion is known for its sarok industry. Sarok is a head cover made of homegrown materials such as dried banana leaves and thin bamboo strips. It is formed into circular cone-tipped hats which are used mostly  by farmers to protect themselves from the scorching heat of the sun and from the falling rain.

History of Sarok

Sarok was created by the farmers (mostly in barangay Tolotolo, a 20-minute motorcycle ride from the national road) in the 1920's to protect themselves from the heat of the sun and from the falling rain. Sarok has been also the main source of livelihood of the residents in barangay Tolotolo.
